Utah is a NASCIO Finalist in Two Categories

August 12, 2009

NASCIO recently announced that Utah is a finalist two categories. Each year, NASCIO recognizes best practices and projects in the field of information technology. Emphasis is placed on recognizing those information technology initiatives which exemplify best practices, support the public policy goals of state leaders, assist government officials to innovatively execute their duties, and provide cost-effective service to citizens. Utah's finalists in this year's awards include Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Across Government Boundaries and "On the Spot Renewal and Highway Patrol Safety Inspections" in the Government to Business category. The business continuity award recognizes DTS's efforts to provide business continuity services in its alternate data center in Richfield to local government and education. The initiative leverages existing infrastructure to provide low cost hosting services to government entities that otherwise might not be able to take advantage of such a service. Utah's highway patrol safety inspection system is a sister service to the popular On-the-Spot service which allows vehicle owners to obtain their license tags at the same time as they have a vehicle safety and emissions inspection.End
